Trading Fees

VDEX operates with a modular fee structure designed to optimize trading efficiency while maintaining self-custody and decentralization. Thanks to Virtual Rollup technology, VDEX charges ZeroGas fees on trades, but applies maker and taker fees based on your trading volume and liquidity contribution. Taker Fee Formula
Taker Fee = Trade Amount × Taker Fee Rate

Trade Amount: Notional value of the order (in USD or the relevant asset)

Taker Fee Rate: Retrieved from the fee tier table (e.g., 0.05% → 0.0005)

Maker Fee Formula
Maker Fee = Trade Amount × Maker Fee Rate

Maker Fee Rate may be negative in rebate structures (e.g., -0.005% → user earns a fee).
Fee Definitions
  • Taker Fees: Charged when you remove liquidity from the orderbook (market orders or limit orders that cross existing orders).

  • Maker Fees : Applied when you provide liquidity to the orderbook (limit orders that don't cross existing orders).

  • Volume Calculation: Includes all your trading activity across supported Settlement Layers and accounts within VDEX.

Protocol Parameters

All VDEX fee tiers and trading parameters are governed by the Virtual DAO and enforced via audited Settlement Layer smart contracts.
